A Day in the Life

Hello friends! Hannah here 🙂

I’m homeschooled, so many of you probably don’t know what a “day in the life of a homeschooler” looks like. I’m here to show you! No, we don’t sit around and watch tv in our pajamas all day. We have a life too you know 😉 Why don’t you join me for the day? It’ll be fun!

8:00 AM – Mabel says good morning, up close and personal.

8:15 AM – let’s start the day off right with Caribou Iced Coffee. This stuff is AMAZING. (greek yogurt with dark chocolate chips not pictured – it looked a little bit like mud with dirt clods in it so I decided it wouldn’t be the most photogenic thing to post.)

my mom trying to eat her breakfast. :’)

8:30 AM – time for school!

she can be a bit of a distraction.

9:00 AM – she’s finally asleep! Thank heaven for small miracles.

10:00 AM – working on diphthongs in Spanish (ignore my misspelling of “diphthong” on my paper. I don’t need to know how to spell it, I just need to know what they are.)

11:30 AM – everything’s checked off! 😀

12:00 PM – eating leftover hamburger and macaroni and cheese while watching So You Think You Can Dance: Next Generation that I recorded Monday night. I’m so obsessed with this show.

1:00 PM – going out to run a few errands…how am I ever going to decide what to wear?

(4 hours later) (Just kidding) 1:15 PM – I decided on my new Ralph Lauren Oxford Tank (!) and white shorts. Yes, I know what you’re thinking. White after Labor Day, what?!? A rebel is what I am, truly.

1:45 PM – all primped, powdered, and ready to go!

2:00 PM  – me and my Lilly cup are on the road!

2:15 PM – trying to be artsy in my rear view mirror.

2:30 PM – library haul for National Book Day!

3:00 PM – new jeans for….um…Buy Yourself New Jeans Day?

3:30 PM – cheesy breadsticks at Sam’s Club because I believe in a healthy lifestyle.

4:00 PM  – back home! I saw the sun coming through the blinds in my bathroom and thought it would make some cool photos.

These turned out really cool in my opinion!

5:00 PM – having a little down time with Color Switch before dinner. Obviously I was having issues with level 72.

6:00 PM – a delicious dinner of Hatch Chile mac and cheese (yes I know I already had mac and cheese for lunch don’t judge me) and hotdogs! Like I said, I believe in healthy living…but only when there isn’t cheese involved. If there’s cheese then all bets are off.

7:00 PM – lyrical class! This is one of my favorite parts of the week ❤

9:00 PM – doing my Bible study and prayer journaling.

10:30 PM – wow, that was a long day. if you will excuse me, my bed is calling. good night!

Interview With Ashley // Preppy Miss

Part Two in my interview series! Today I interviewed the lovely Ashley from the Blog and Instagram Preppy Miss.

When did you first become interested in fashion?

I have been interested in fashion for as long as I can remember. I have always loved playing dress up and distinguishing myself by my style!

What made you decide to start a blog?

I started my Instagram account (@preppymiss) almost three years ago and saw a lot of other girls my age blogging, so I decided to take the leap! I also liked writing about fashion, lifestyle, and anything else that interested me.

Are you planning on a career in fashion?

I plan on going into some kind of fashion marketing.

If you could choose ONE item to be the essential in a preppy wardrobe, what would it be?

Pearls of any kind! I love my pearl earrings, but a necklace or bracelet can also add the perfect classic touch!

Who are your style inspirations?

Sarah Vickers, Jackie O, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Nancy Drew, Ali Macgraw (in Love Story) and so many others! I watch a lot of old movies, so I tend to draw inspiration from them.

Is there a particular clothing brand that you feel drawn to?

I love Lilly Pulitzer for the summer, the lifestyle they sell is so fun! Other than that J Crew has to be my all time favorite.

What outfit would be good for the first day at school?

Anything that makes you feel confident – for me it’s a pretty skirt or chino shorts, a simple oxford or striped shirt, a denim jacket, and a pair of Jack Rogers.

What advice do you give other girls out there looking for their style?

Don’t let anyone define or label your style! It doesn’t have to be preppy, edgy, girly, or hipster – it can be a combination or none at all! That’s the beauty of fashion, you can use it to express yourself and your personality.

Interview with Faith // A Pocketful of Prep

I am so excited! I’m starting a new series of interviews from preppy bloggers around the country. I just interviewed Faith from the Blog and Instagram A Pocketful of Prep, and I think you’re going to love this sweet girl as much as I do. 🙂

When did you first become interested in fashion? I’ve been interested in fashion for as long as I can remember.  I always loved picking out my outfits when I was little and I never really grew out of that.
What made you decide to start a blog? I had a preppy account on Instagram for about a year before I created my blog, and a lot of my favorite preppy Instagrammers had blogs that I loved to read.  Over time my desire to create my own blog grew, and one day I finally did.
Are you planning on a career in fashion?  I’ve always wanted to have my own clothing company but I’ve recently also begun considering a career in photography.
If you could choose ONE item to be the essential in a preppy wardrobe, what would it be? I would have to say a pair of classic Jack Rogers sandals.  I wear my gold pair all the time and I find them to be very versatile; they can go with a formal dress or a tee and Nike shorts.
Who are your style inspirations? I look to Danielle Marie and Emery Eyssen from YouTube as well as Kate (@lonestarsouthern) and Sarah Vickers (@sarahkjp) for style inspiration.  These ladies all seem so sweet and they have such a great sense of style!  I would say my style is a classy mixture of preppy and trendy and I think a blend of these wonderful girls describes that perfectly!
Is there a particular clothing brand that you feel drawn to? I adore Kate Spade.  The chic and sophisticated yet youthful vibe that the brand radiates through its bags and clothing and is something I’ve always loved.
What outfit would be good for the first day at school? I always go for a nice top, some white jeans, and pretty jewelry; it looks nice but not like you’re trying too hard to dress up.
What advice do you give other girls out there looking for their style? If you see something you like, try it on, whether it seems like “something you would wear” or not.  Be true to yourself and never feel the need to wear something just because everyone else does.

Chambray and Stripes

This is honestly one of my new favorite outfits.

I could sit around and just pet this chambray shirt. A little weird, maybe…but it seriously feels like silk.

Just picked up this striped tee from Target yesterday! It’s on sale for $5, so get a bunch of colors while you can.

These colored shorts from Belk are almost as soft as the shirt. I’ve been hoping to get some more colors, they have a really pretty pale pink.

Are you sick of seeing these thong sandals yet? I’m definitely not sick of wearing them – they get even more comfortable as I break them in.

My Book of the Day is The Voyages of Dr. Dolittle by Hugh Lofting. This is one of my childhood favorites, but I even enjoy it now. It’s free on the Kindle currently!

Happy Wednesday! 🙂

❤ , Hannah

Anchor Shirts and Colored Shorts

I spent a long time staring at this picture trying to figure out whether the blues coordinated. I’ll let you decide.

My anchor t-shirt from American Eagle is no longer available, but this one from Target is a similar color and equally as cute.

These Colored Shorts from Belk are so adorable! They come in a bunch of different colors so I’m sure you’ll find a pair that’s perfect for you.

I love my Thong Sandals from Target. They’re so comfy and don’t rub between my toes like other sandals.

My Book of the Day is The Maiden of Mayfair by Lawana Blackwell. It’s a great late 1800’s novel, which happens to be one of my favorite type of books. 🙂

Have a great Monday everybody!

Fashion Inspiration: Stripes

Stripes can be really tricky to style. I have a few striped pieces in my closet, but sometimes I’m at a loss on how to style them! Hopefully this will help you just as much as it will help me in styling my stripes. 🙂

I love the simplicity of this – the rhinestone necklace perfectly accents the nautical navy blue stripes.

This would be adorable for Fourth of July! The gold necklace adds a cute preppy flair as well.

This coral blazer is perfect with the black and white striped dress! I think I need to go buy one now. Bye.

See you next time, and have a great Fourth of July!
