Stripes and Sweaters

What’s up guys? I hope your week has been good so far – if not, just hang in there. It’s almost Friday. 😉

NC weather is making me mad right now. First it wants to be cold, then it wants to be hot….it’s November, y’all. Today it’s 80 degrees outside. However, being the stubborn girl that I am, I’ve been wearing my sweaters and doing exactly what the name says: sweat. It’s all in the name of fashion, of course.

Grey Sweaters are so versatile for fall – I have three or four that I switch out through the cooler months.

Striped T-shirts – every girl should have at least one. They’re classy yet comfortable, so you can dress them up or down.

Boyfriend Jeans are the ultimate stylish-yet-comfortable jeans. I like mine a bit tighter in the thighs so they don’t look like sweatpants, but you can go as baggy or as tight as you like. Just make sure they have that trademark cuff on the bottom.!

Pink Converse…are you tired of seeing them yet?

My exact necklace isn’t available online, but you can check out these other Fair Trade options.

My Book of the Day is Battle of the Ampere by Richard Paul Evans. If you’re into sci-fi, you’ll love this book!

I’m going to go take off my sweater now…the temperature is still rising and I have to say, I’m a bit grumpy about it. 😩

It’s Fall, Y’all!

Ahhhh I’m so excited for FALL! The leaves, the sweaters, and of course, the Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Today was a bit warm to wear my favorite sweater and boots, so I put together a little Fall Transition outfit that turned out super cute!

I love this Grey T-Shirt Dress – it’s as comfy as a nightgown, and you can dress it up or down depending upon the occasion.

Plaid happens to be one of my favorite things. It’s probably grown from a love to an unhealthy obsession as I’ve gotten older, but you won’t tell, will you? 😉 This Pink Plaid is literally to die for. ❤

Converse tennis shoes for obvious reasons. #shoegoals

happy fall, y’all ❤

Floral Tops and Woven Sandals

Today I thought I would channel my inner “flower child” with a flowy floral top and woven sandals.

Is this top not the cutest? I love flowy chiffon shirts like this one when it’s super hot outside. Even when you want to dress a little nicer and wear jeans it still keeps you nice and cool.

Of course I love my woven sandals from Target – you’re probably sick of seeing them by now. Don’t worry, it’s almost fall so you’ll get a little break. 😉

My Book of the Day is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I’m so excited to read this for the first time!

A Day in the Life

Hello friends! Hannah here 🙂

I’m homeschooled, so many of you probably don’t know what a “day in the life of a homeschooler” looks like. I’m here to show you! No, we don’t sit around and watch tv in our pajamas all day. We have a life too you know 😉 Why don’t you join me for the day? It’ll be fun!

8:00 AM – Mabel says good morning, up close and personal.

8:15 AM – let’s start the day off right with Caribou Iced Coffee. This stuff is AMAZING. (greek yogurt with dark chocolate chips not pictured – it looked a little bit like mud with dirt clods in it so I decided it wouldn’t be the most photogenic thing to post.)

my mom trying to eat her breakfast. :’)

8:30 AM – time for school!

she can be a bit of a distraction.

9:00 AM – she’s finally asleep! Thank heaven for small miracles.

10:00 AM – working on diphthongs in Spanish (ignore my misspelling of “diphthong” on my paper. I don’t need to know how to spell it, I just need to know what they are.)

11:30 AM – everything’s checked off! 😀

12:00 PM – eating leftover hamburger and macaroni and cheese while watching So You Think You Can Dance: Next Generation that I recorded Monday night. I’m so obsessed with this show.

1:00 PM – going out to run a few errands…how am I ever going to decide what to wear?

(4 hours later) (Just kidding) 1:15 PM – I decided on my new Ralph Lauren Oxford Tank (!) and white shorts. Yes, I know what you’re thinking. White after Labor Day, what?!? A rebel is what I am, truly.

1:45 PM – all primped, powdered, and ready to go!

2:00 PM  – me and my Lilly cup are on the road!

2:15 PM – trying to be artsy in my rear view mirror.

2:30 PM – library haul for National Book Day!

3:00 PM – new jeans for….um…Buy Yourself New Jeans Day?

3:30 PM – cheesy breadsticks at Sam’s Club because I believe in a healthy lifestyle.

4:00 PM  – back home! I saw the sun coming through the blinds in my bathroom and thought it would make some cool photos.

These turned out really cool in my opinion!

5:00 PM – having a little down time with Color Switch before dinner. Obviously I was having issues with level 72.

6:00 PM – a delicious dinner of Hatch Chile mac and cheese (yes I know I already had mac and cheese for lunch don’t judge me) and hotdogs! Like I said, I believe in healthy living…but only when there isn’t cheese involved. If there’s cheese then all bets are off.

7:00 PM – lyrical class! This is one of my favorite parts of the week ❤

9:00 PM – doing my Bible study and prayer journaling.

10:30 PM – wow, that was a long day. if you will excuse me, my bed is calling. good night!

Interview with Emily

Today I’m interviewing my good friend Emily! She is the sweetest, and I think you’re going to love what she has to say. 🙂

What would you say your style is?

I wear lots of varieties of clothing but when I look in my closet the prominent styles are florals, colorful patterns, lace, and pearls. So if I summed up my style it would be “classy boho with a hint of preppy”.

What are 5 summer wardrobe staples that you can’t live without?

1) Floral Romper. Gifted. My friend bought it from Italy! It’s very vibrant and fun.

2)Aeropostale Dark Wash Midi Shorts. You can dress them up or down!

3) Kiss and Cry Palazzo Pants. Mine are Navy and White with a bohemian pattern. They’re super comfy and I wear them all the time!

4) Forever 21 White Lace Tank. The best piece I’ve ever bought. Hands down.

5) Target Sterling Silver Pearl Earrings. I never take them out! They make a simple outfit classy!

If you had to dress only in clothes from one time period, when would you choose and why?

Without a doubt the 1920’s. From the sparkly dresses to the long strings of pearls to the lace, this era was when feminism really took off. Glitz and glam embodied this time period. The era was just bubbly and fun!

What are your go-to pair of shoes?

My go to shoes would have to be my Bass Women’s Sharon Sandals in White.

Do you believe name brands should be the focal point of your style?

No, certainly not. The only time I pay for name brands are if I truly love a piece. I buy for how much I like a piece of clothing verses being in a name brand clique. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not bashing name brands, they’re just not my usual purchases. Instead, I love shopping in a variety places. My usual go-tos are Ross, Marshall’s, and Forever 21. I’ve even found a couple pieces in Walmart. And of course, the queen of all my clothing purchases… Target. I think that variety is always best which is why I don’t limit my style to certain brands. You don’t want to restrict yourself and miss out on clothing pieces that could become favorites!

What clothing items are you wearing in this outfit?

  1. Thong Sandals from Target
  2.  My little white dress is from Ross and unfortunately Ross does not have a website where you can search for specific items but here is the link to a similar white dress!
  3. Wide Brim Floppy Hat from Walmart

What does this outfit say uniquely about you?

This outfit portrays my style in that it looks put together but it is comfortable. I usually dress for comfort above all so this outfit really captures me. It is also a very summery and beachy look which is my all time favorite. I’m definitely a beach bum!

What advice do you have for other girls who are searching for their own style?

I try out new styles all the time and I feel like that is a perfectly acceptable way to find where you fit in the style world. Recently I found where I fit but that doesn’t mean I don’t try new things. My advice would be if you don’t love what you wear, keep on trying new things. And above all I think the style you choose should do three important things for you: make you confident, make you happy, and make you comfortable.

10 Under $10

One of the problems I have with being a teenager is that I don’t have a cash flow large enough to buy all of the things I want. I mean, $15 a week doesn’t exactly pay for Lilly Pulitzer shift dress, now does it? One thing I CAN handle is a fabulous find for under $10! I’ve put together 10 of my favorite bargains for my soul sisters out there with the same problem.

Are these not the most gorgeous earrings? They’re on clearance at J. Crew for only $9.99!

I love this Black Tank Dress from Target for only $9.98! It would be so easy to dress up or down, and it could transition to fall with some cute tights and a denim jacket.

This adorable top from TJ Maxx is $10 even, but I love the nautical look. They have it in navy blue as well!

I am so in love with this North Carolina tee. It’s only $7.49, what a steal!

More of those nautical stripes on this peplum tee, but this time with vintage lace! ❤

You know those blue shorts I’ve been wearing a lot lately? They’re now on clearance for only $7.49!

More NC love with this tank top from Belk. It’s marked down to $7.49.

The bright pattern on these shorts is perfect to end your summer with flair.

My cropped pants are one of the most frequently used items in my closet, so why not pick up this pair for only $9.99?

I saved the best deal for last! This tank top from Target is on clearance for $5.08! They have several different colors, so maybe get more than one to stock up for next summer.

I hope you found something you loved in this 10 Under $10! I know I sure did.
